Curriculum
Parsons Preschool uses The Creative Curriculum along with Teaching Strategies Gold (for 3k and 4k classes only) which is an authentic, ongoing observational system for assessing children from birth through kindergarten.
The overall goal of Parsons Preschool has always been to ensure that all students reach their learning potential so that they enter kindergarten with the necessary skills needed to succeed in a least restrictive environment. The following instructional goals guide teachers and staff in achieving our overall goal:
Ensuring that the classrooms are colorful, high-energy places that are filled with socializing children and fun activities
Planning effective lesson plans and connecting them to the overall theme
Providing different students with different avenues of learning so that they all can learn effectively (differentiated instruction)
Helping children develop self-confidence and identity that positively relates to their families and cultures
Providing adequate time and space to practice parallel play, dramatic play and role-play (centertime)
Keeping positive communication with parents and actively listening to their concerns
Making sure that each child knows that he/she is cared for and loved
Parsons Preschool strives to maintain its mission and philosophy from year to year by ensuring that it is developmentally and academically structured, aiming to enhance a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical and language development at the child’s own pace. Services are provided to each child in a positive and encouraging manner, and we strive to provide an enriching and healthy experience. From one year to another, our philosophy emphasizes respect for every child, while encouraging the growth and change that we believe is inherent in each child.
